Long-serving Subbies Appeals Tribunal Chairman, Richard Harvey, was last night voted as the Union's latest Life Member.
Those attending the AGM unanimously endorsed Richard's nomination, put to the meeting by the Subbies Board, in conjunction with Kent Prusas, Petersham RFC Secretary, and Tom Hickie, Waverley RFC luminary, Union historian and author of The Game for the Game itself.
Richard joined Petersham RFC in 1979, playing 320 games. Since 1982 he has served continuously on the Petersham committee, including as Patron, and in his current role as Club President.
Concurrent with all his club work, Richard served on the Subbies Board from 1987 - 1994, helping to draft the Union's constitution and serving as the Union's Treasurer for two years and as Chairman in 1994.
In 2004, Richard joined the Union's Appeals Tribunal, on which he has served as Chairman since 2006.
In the midst of a busy legal career, including a term as President of the Law Society, and raising a family, Richard has devoted countless hours to playing and administering a game he truly loves. Subbies Rugby has been the beneficiary of his dedication, passion and expertise and we are delighted to recognise his contribution by naming him as our 20th Life Member.
Richard, congratulations and thank you.
