It is with immense sadness that we learnt today of the passing of Mick Kennedy, a legendary rugby player, coach and administrator.
Mick "Doc" Kennedy epitomised all of the admirable values of grassroots rugby. His dedication and friendship will be very sorely missed by generations of players and administrators at Mosman, Subbies Rugby, and the wider NSW rugby community.
Mick was a huge part of the Mosman Rugby Club since his debut in 1974. Doc has played 226 games, including 72 first grade games. He has also coached for 17 years winning 5 premierships and was Team Manager for decades.
Doc was on the Mosman committee for 24 years, between 1978 and 2004. He was also Club Secretary for 7 years, club treasurer for 1 year and Club President for 8 years. He was awarded the Mosman Rugby Life Membership in 1990.
In addition to his amazing work at Mosman, Mick joined the Subbies Board in 1997 to fill a casual vacancy and went on to serve for 18 years, culminating in a three year stint as Union President. In 2000, he was a recipient of the Australian Sports Medal for his services to Rugby and in 2015 Mick was awarded life membership of NSW Suburban Rugby.
The Union extends its deepest condolences to Mick’s sister, Margaret, and all his family.
